CON/VIDA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting understanding for the diverse cultures, traditions and history of the Americas expressed through popular art.
Cuadros are Peruvian embroidered and appliquéd wall hangings that depict life in the shantytowns outside of Lima. They are sewn by hand by women and document their lives and struggle for survival. The cuadros focus on the experiences of women: claiming land, building homes, collecting and preparing food, protesting injustice, marching for peace. They are documents of hope and courage, written in bright colors and scraps of material.
